Paradise Helicopters is flying all of their regular tours and charters, but please understand that what you will see on their flights is highly dependent upon 1) the eruption, 2) the weather, and 3) the temporary flight restrictions in place. All of these vary from day to day and even hour to hour.
Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR’s) that the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) have put in place for all non-emergency aircraft are shown in the below diagrams. They currently allow flight at 3,000 feet above ground level over the Lower East Rift Zone eruption, and at 30,000 feet above ground level with a 5 nautical mile radius around Halemaʻumaʻu.
Please note that Paradise Helicopters DOES fly above the Lower East Rift Zone TFR, but does not fly above the Halemaʻumaʻu TFR.
Lower East Rift Zone TFR:
Although eruption activity is very high at this time, Paradise Helicopters is unable to guarantee that you will see “red” lava on your flight.
Regardless, please be assured that their pilots will do their best to navigate ALL conditions to deliver to you the safest and best viewing experience possible on all of their flights.
Please see the attached links below to stay apprised of the status of the eruption:
