Lava Update for Tuesday, June 5, 2018, 5:45 am – Kilauea’s east rift zone overflight:
Heads up, the photos below show the ravaged remains of Kapoho, and also a couple of homes being taken by the lava. My apologies in advance, no insensitive intentions here, just historical documentation of this life altering event. It is my hope that proper photojournalism will bring about awareness of our community’s dire struggles and need for assistance.
Kilauea’s eruption on the lower east rift zone continues, as profuse effusion of lava from fissure 8 feeds flows that have inundated the coastal communities of Kapoho Beach Lots and Vacationland, and filled Kapoho Bay. A new delta of land now exists where the mouth of the bay used to be. See the latest photos below.
